Abstract
We have studied electron transport in a linear quantum wire, one section of which is subject to a periodically varying magnetic field. It is shown that there are dips in conductance just below the mode thresholds. The quantum transmission along the wire is enhanced by magnetic fields with periodic profile. The field strength, the number of periods, and their length have all been varied. This has revealed some systematic trends in the resulting conductance of the channel. © 1996 The American Physical Society. Keywords
