Abstract

Strong preferential excitation of the odd-parity levels in

{}^{18}F

and sharply forward-peaked angular distributions have been observed in the reaction

{}^{15}N ({}^{6}{Li}, t) {}^{18}F

. These results imply that the reaction mechanism contains a direct component and that the odd-parity levels have large

{(p)}^{- 1} {(sd)}^{3}

configurations.
