Abstract
When a point target is embedded in a clutter background, the probability of detection depends on the detection threshold as well as the clutter statistics. Detection thresholds are calculated for gamma, inverse-Gaussian, Weibull and log-normal clutter models with known clutter statistics. These thresholds are useful for calculating an approximate probability of detection and for comparing system performance with different clutter models. Keywords
