Abstract
Only few hexachlorides are known and these are deeply colored solids. It is only recently that Raman spectra of such materials can be obtained with the aid of lasers. We report here the Raman spectrum of solid UCl6. Uranium hexachloride was prepared by reacting uranium hexafloride with boron trichloride1 and then pumping off the more volatile compounds. Keywords
