Abstract
An improved elastic model of a cross-link in a polyethylene crystal is presented. The cross-link is modelled by three orthogonal force dipoles from which it is possible to obtain its elastic strain field. The elastic energy of the cross-link according to this model is found to be (2·45 ± 0·07) × 10−19 J.Keywords
