Abstract
Simultaneous measurements of plasma and cell vol-ume were made with T-1824 and Cr51. The Fcells [image] factor in the splenectomized cat was found to be 0.78 (s.d.[plus or minus] .01). With spleen intact the Fcells factor was highly variable. Under Nembu-tal anesthesia which dilates the spleen, Fcells values ranged from 0.88 to 1.06, but after constriction of the spleen by injections of adrenaline Fcells values ranged from 0.61 yo 0.74. Evidence is also presented indicating that species differences in the Fcells value are related to body size. Keywords
