Abstract
A polymetamorphic basement, a Permo- Carboniferous complex, and a Mesozoic cover exhibiting affinities with the Brianconnais tectonic zone are distinguished in the Acceglio-Longet area of the upper Varaita valley in the Cottian Alps, Italy. Study of tectonic relationships leads to the conclusion that rocks of the Schistes lustres form an overthrust mass.
