Abstract
In response to the article by Janette Brand-Miller and Kaye Foster-Powell, this article presents another view of the glycemic index and explains in part the reluctance of nutrition professionals in the United States to embrace the glycemic index wholeheartedly. Is I Director of Professional Education and Nutrition at the International Diabetes Center. She is also a teaching specialist at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, where she received her MS degree. Author of more than 70 publications, she has also served on the national board of directors for the American Diabetes Association, frequently contributes to the Association's technical reviews, and edited The American Diabetes Association's Guide to Medical Nutrition Therapy
