Abstract
Selective arteriography by the Seldinger percutaneous transfemoral approach has been utilized in the evaluation of patients with abdominal emergencies in a large general hospital. This technique has been found to be most useful in the following situations: (1) Determination of the exact site of gastrointestinal bleeding; (2) evaluation of patients with blunt abdominal trauma for injuries to the spleen, kidney and liver; and (3) diagnosis of acute occlusions of the renal and mesenteric arteries and veins. The technique is practical, even in desperately ill patients, and gives consistently reliable information, as illustrated by several case reports. Keywords
