Abstract
A simple interferometric method is presented to measure the coupling ratio as a function of wavelength of an equal splitting fused fiber coupler. The coupling ratio can be determined to 0.5/spl plusmn/0.0005 and by also measuring the excess loss it is possible to determine the actual loss in each optical path in the coupler. Keywords
