Versuch zur Datierung von Eisenmeteoriten nach der Rhenium-Osmium-Methode

Abstract
The rhenium and osmium contents and the isotopic compositions of osmium in a number of meteorites have been measured. Os/Re ratios and 187Os/186Os ratios vary sufficiently as to make the 187Re/187Os dating-method applicable to meteorites. Also, the isotopic compositions of several samples of terrestrial common osmium have been determined, giving variations in the 187Os/186Os ratio which are larger than the terrestrial common strontium variations. The halflife of 187Re still is only tentatively known. Taking the latest value (4.3 · 1010 years), it is shown that the results are in agreement with the assumption that stone meteorites, iron meteorites and the crust of the earth have been formed about 4 to 5 AE ago.
