Fibrous Hamartoma of Infancy in the Scrotum

Abstract
Fibrous hamartomas of infancy are benign lesions composed of an admixture of fibrocollagenous tissue, cellular fibroblasts and fat. Although these lesions mainly occur in the upper torso and extremities fibrous hamartomas also may develop in the groin. We report on a child with a fibrous hamartoma in the scrotum and emphasize the histologic characteristics, so that these tumors may be differentiated from other malignant neoplasms in the scrotum and unnecessary radical therapies may be avoided.
