Abstract
Heavy ion inertial confinement fusion is reviewed with emphasis on the physics of fusion targets for direct and indirect drive, on radio-frequency and induction linear accelerators as the major options for reactor drivers, and on accelerator and plasma target experiments for heavy ion fusion, at the SIS/ESR accelerator in Darmstadt. Keywords
