O-glucosylzeatin and Related Compounds—A New Group of Cytokinin Metabolites

Abstract

Zeatin metabolism was studied in poplar leaves [Populus nigra and P. alba] which resulted in the identification of a new group of zeatin metabolites with a 4-glucosyloxy moiety on the isoprenyl side chain. These metabolites are probably endogenous cytokinins. Their chemical characterization, synthesis and chromatographic separation are presented.
