Abstract
An analytical method for the determination of critical value of crack tip opening displacement at initiation of crack growth δc of a three-point bend specimen is presented. It is based on the formulation of subcritical crack growth in such a specimen. The values of δc obtained by this single specimen method are in excellent agreement with those obtained by the standard multispecimen method. It is emphasized that it would be necessary to use blunting line correction when the multispecimen method is used. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
