Mathematical models of instruments-fundamental principles

Abstract
The fundamental principles of the mathematical modelling of instruments as a basis for a systematic organisation of instrument science are presented. A summary of fundamental concepts and definitions is given. A systemic scheme of physical system description is outlined, based on variables which characterise power flow. Based on this scheme a classification of physical system elements is proposed. Examples of models of simple idealised elements are given. Problems of modelling more complex instruments and of detailed models are introduced.
