Abstract

Descriptions were given for 84 taxa of marine algae collected along the Arabian Gulf coast of Saudi Arabia. Of the algae described, 38 (7 Chlorophycophyta, 5 Phaeophycophyta, 14 Cyanophyceae and 12 Rhodophycophyta) were reported for the 1st time as occurring in the Gulf. The systematic identification includes 15 Chlorophycophyta, 20 Phaeophycophyta, 16 Cyanophyceae and 33 Rhodophycophyta.
