Abstract
A right circular cylinder of a large single crystal of LiF was hung along its axis of symmetry to form a sensitive torsion pendulum. In a uniform magnetic field a torque was observed to act on the pendulum, which has been interpreted as arising from lattice defects caused by soft x radiation. Quantitative studies on the frequency of oscillation as a function of magnetic field orientation to the LiF crystal are reported. Keywords
