Abstract
Collecting descriptive data on patterns of recovery from a disabling condition could provide a baseline for assessing treatment methods and for monitoring the progress of individual patients. An illustrative study of patients recovering from stroke is presented and the strengths and weaknesses of such studies are discussed. Keywords
