Abstract
The heats of hydrolysis of chlorotrimethylsilane in water, and of hexamethyldisilazane in an aqueous solution of excess hydrogen chloride, to give hexamethyldisiloxane and an aqueous solution of hydrogen chloride, and also ammonium chloride in the second case, have been measured. These data are used to calculate the values ΔHf°(Me3SiCl, liq.)=–91·9 ± 0·8 kcal./mole and ΔHf°[(Me3Si)2NH, liq.]=–123·8 ± 1·4 kcal./mole. Bond energies in some silicon compounds are derived. Keywords
