Abstract
Studies were carried out to evaluate the changes in various serum proteins during 5- and 10-day intervals of continuous cultivation of rat tumor strains TSAT-72 and TSAT-333 of in vitro origin and the human fibrosarcoma strain A.Fi. These stable strains, under cultivation for 17, 15, and 18 years respectively, were grown and tested in a 50% solution of human placental cord serum in balanced salt solution (Gey). The electrophoretic diagrams showed a considerable decrease in the alpha and beta globulin fractions, paralleling changes in total protein nitrogen. Paper chromatography on incubated fluids with or without cells did not reveal any increase in amino acids . present. The possibility of entire protein molecules being incorporated by pinocytosis is suggested. Keywords
