The Rate of Egg Laying by Three Species of Ray

Abstract
The egg production rates of three species of rays, Raja brachyura, R. montagui and R. clavata, kept in aquaria are described. The first two species laid at a maximum rate of 0.5 egg perday and the last species at a maximum of one egg per day. Temperature affected the rate of egg laying, maximum rates being observed when temperatures were rising.
