Abstract
Disturbed sleep in cases of rheumatoid arthritis is better treated with an anti-inflammatory analgesic than a hypnotic. INDOMETHACIN 100 mg at night as a suppository (Holt and Hawkins, 1965) or capsules (Huskisson et al., 1970) relieves night pain in rheumatoid arthritis. Hypnotics are also widely prescribed for chronic musculoskeletal disorders (Johnson and Clift, 1968). Indomethacin at night was therefore compared with sodium amylobarbitone in rheumatoid arthritis. Subsequently, indomethacin plus sodium amylobarbitone was compared with indomethacin alone. Keywords
