Abstract
Past and current trends in vaccine refusal indicate that the medical establishment's habit of responding defensively to allegations that vaccines are unsafe may be ineffective. A superior strategy for advocates of vaccines may be to use the current media and information environment to refocus attention to vaccines' effectiveness and necessity. Virtual Mentor is a monthly bioethics journal published by the American Medical Association. Keywords
