Abstract
Single crystals of glycine, glycine‐d 3, and glycine‐d 2 have been x irradiated at liquid‐nitrogen temperatures and the paramagnetic fragments produced examined as a function of temperature by electron spin resonance techniques. The radicals observed in the temperature range 77–300°K include: ĊH2N+H3, N+H3CH2ĊOO−(H), ĊH2COO(H), ṄH2 +CH2COO−, and N+H3CHCOO−. The production of these radicals can be rationalized by a sequence of reactions which involve initially formed cation and anion radicals. Keywords
