Deep Pectoral Myopathy in Seven-Week-Old Broiler Chickens

Abstract
The incidence and the gross and microscopic appearance of deep pectoral myopathy were studied in a flock of 7 wk old broiler chickens. The myopathy developed in 5% of the birds within 1 wk of being individually handled for subjective broiler trait evaluation. The lesion consisted of bilateral green discoloration and necrosis of the middle 3rd of the supracoracoid muscles.
