Abstract
A previously proposed model of quarks and gluons, with nonperturbative gluon propagators, is extended to include gluon self-interactions. An approximate expression for the amplitude for colour octet exchange is obtained by summing a dominant subset of diagrams. This amplitude is then used to obtain an integral equation for the pomeron amplitude whose solution gives an isolated pole for its Mellin transform. The position of this pole is qualitatively consistent with the observed pomeron trajectory. Keywords
