On the Electronic Structure of the Nitrogen Molecule

Abstract
It is shown that the Lyman-Birge-Hopfield bands of nitrogen represent a forbidden transition. A considerable difficulty in the interpretation of the electronic states of by electron configurations is thus removed. A revised electronic energy level diagram of is given.
