Abstract
An analysis of the thermal response of an electrical resistance thermometer or bolometer is presented which takes into account the thermal feedback produced by Joule self-heating. It is shown that this can lead to significant changes in the gain and bandwidth, particularly in the case of high-sensitivity superconducting transition edge bolometers, and that such changes can be controlled and utilized by appropriate choice of electrical bias network. Keywords
