Adducts of methyizinc tert-butylthiolate and nitrogenous bases: implications for the use of adducts in MOCVD

Abstract
Stable adducts are formed by the interaction of the pentameric compound [CH3ZnSBut]5 with nitrogenous bases such as pyridine and 1,3,5-trimethylhexahydro-1,3,5-triazine. The X-ray single-crystal structures are reported for the pyridine and triazine compounds. The triazine compound exists, in the solid state, in two distinct forms differing in the relative orientation of the methyl group at the nitrogen atoms. The adducts are all dimers with ZnCS2N coordination at the metal ion. The chemistry of these compounds is discussed in relation to the deposition of II/VI materials such as ZnS by MOCVD.
