Abstract
MgO · Al2O3 · xSiO2 high-quartz phases were grown in polycrystalline form (x = 2, 3, 4, 6) and as single crystals (x = 3, 4) from glasses of corresponding compositions. The changes of the lattice constants depending on chemical composition, crystallization temperature and crystallization time as well as the development of superstructure reflections and their temperature dependence were studied. The results are interpreted in terms of an order-disorder-process of the Mg atoms. Keywords
