Abstract
The effect on cobalt ferrite of heat treatment in a magnetic field has been studied by neutron diffraction. The data indicate that the magnetic moments are, in general, displaced from the directions which would be expected from consideration of crystalline anisotropy alone. The effect is greater in ferrites that are iron rich than it is in stoichiometric ferrites. The results are consistent with magnetic data. Keywords
