Abstract
The incorporation of 14C-leucine into microsomal and soluble protein was measured in postmitochondrial supernatant of kidney homogenates prepared from rats receiving puromycin or aminonucleoside. No short-term effects were observed in kidney. When puromycin or aminonucleoside, 7.5 μmoles or 5.0 μmoles, respectively, was administered daily for 11 days, an increased incorporation was observed with both substances but the increase was considerably greater with aminonucleoside. In kidney preparations from aminonucleoside nephrotic rats, the incorporation of 14C-leucine was increased in both albumins and globulins, but to a larger extent in the albumins of the soluble protein fraction. Keywords
