Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of number of reinforcements upon extinction in a free operant situation requiring children to pull a lever on a simulated slot machine. The variables employed were percentage of reinforcement, number of training trials, and the presence or absence of a conditioned reinforcer. The significant findings of the study indicated that resistance to extinction was inversely related to the number of acquisition trials for both continuous and intermittent training, and that a smaller percentage of reinforcement resulted in the usual partial reinforcement effect. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
