Dispersion and Diffraction by Anisotropic Centers in Alkali Halides

Abstract
The dispersion due to centers is determined through an ellipsometric technique which utilizes their polarization properties. While this contribution is small compared to the overall refractive index, it could lead to substantial phase variations and high diffraction efficiencies in holographic storage.
