Abstract
This paper describes observations of two extended, low emission measure, galactic H II regions using the H166α radio recombination line (1424.734 MHz). Nine positions have been observed in W80 (the North American and Pelican nebulae) and five in W16 (the Rosette nebula). The data are consistent with local thermodynamic equilibrium (LTE) and yield mean electron temperatures of 6900 K for the former, and 7900 K for the latter. Keywords
