Relative Humidity and Temperature Within the Beehive

Abstract
Relative humidity and temp. in 2 beehives were determined by the use of a recording hygro-thermograph at Baton Rouge, La. The factors were fairly uniform in the brood chamber, but less uniform in the honey supers. The farther from the brood chambers the more the factors tended to vary with the rel. humidity and temp. of the outside air. At mid-day in July and Aug. at Baton Rouge from 7.15 to 10.5 grains of moisture per cu. ft. of air may be expected within the beehive. The high moisture content of honey at Baton Rouge (18-22%) may be the result of the high moisture content of the air within the hive.This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
