Abstract
We report results of a Monte Carlo study of the ‘‘equilibrium dynamics’’ of the two-dimensional axial third-nearest-neighbor Ising model, which exhibits a modulated phase incommensurate with the lattice spacing. The linear response function is shown to be a good predictor of model phases and boundaries. Two phenomenological observations, entrainment and diffusivity, are related to other studies, both theoretical and experimental. Keywords
