Abstract
THE number of cases of leprosy existing in the world is difficult to estimate, but it is thought that there are at least 20,000,000. About 2500 cases are known to exist in the United States; quite possibly, however, the actual number is two or three times greater.Leprosy is usually not difficult to recognize provided the diagnosis is considered but it can mimic various conditions, including dermatophytoses, lupus erythematosus, sarcoidosis, psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, granuloma annulare, acne and "allergy."
