SMEs, New Technology and Training

Abstract
Julie griffith and Michael dorsman are with the Centre for Educational Development and Training at Manchester Polytechnic, England. Their paper is based on part of the findings of a three-year project investigating the introduction of new technology into small and medium-sized enterprises and the implications this has for the small firms trainer. They say that the cost of technology training needs to be related to the impact of such an investment on the product or services of the firm; accessibility of training provision has to be related to the size of a firm; training provision should be related to the needs of a particular product ot service sector to ensure its relevance to the needs of individual firms; and the effectiveness of the provision must be monitored.
