The Occupational Therapist as a Member of the Community Mental Handicap Team

Abstract
The authors are both occupational therapists in community mental handicap teams. This article attempts to look at some of the major issues concerning their teams, such as role overlap and blurring, team leadership and the physical base of the team. It also looks at the role of the occupational therapist, both as a team member and as a professional, and provides some examples of work with individuals and groups.
