Abstract
The boundary layer in free convection over the upper surface of a semi-infinite heated flat plate which is inclined at a small angle to the horizontal is discussed. When the inclination is positive, series solutions, one valid near the leading edge and the other at large distances from it, are obtained. A step-by-step numerical technique is used to complete the solution in the region where neither series is adequate. When the inclination is negative, a series solution valid near the leading edge is again obtained and the numerical method is employed to extend the solutions downstream, past the point at which the boundary layer separates from the plate. No evidence of a singularity at the separation point is found. Keywords
