Abstract
A new method of calculating elastic strains in an anisotropic material is demonstrated. It is used to find the neighbouring field of a coherent misfitting spherical particle, without the necessity of solving a sextic equation for each point. Other examples are given for comparison with earlier work. The Radon transform is used, not only in the calculation but to confirm some theorems of average strains.
