Pheromones, XXVII. Stereoselective Synthesis of (Z)‐13‐Octadecenal, a Pheromone Component of the Rice Stem Borer Chilo suppressalis (Lepidoptera)By ozone cleavage of methyl brassidate or erucate (1) and subsequent Wittig olefination with pentylidenetriphenylphosphorane methyl (Z)‐13‐octadecenoate (4) is obtained which easily can be converted to (Z)‐13‐octadecenal (7), a component of the Rice Stem Borer sex attractant.
