Abstract
The hypothalamus was stimulated in 20 cats by means of the Horsely-Clarke Stereotaxic instrument. A rise in blood pressure, an increase in the rate and amplitude of respiration, and dilatation of the pupils, but no significant changes in heart rate resulted from stimulation. These reactions could be produced by stimulating any portion of the hypothalamus; the most pronounced reactions were obtained when the anterior and lateral hypothala-mic nuclei were stimulated. There was some degree of localization of respiratory control. Panting was produced only when the supramammillary nucleus was stimulated and rapid deep breathing only when the anterior nucleus was stimulated. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
