Hyperglycemic Nonketotic Coma in Insulin-Dependent Diabetes Mellitus

Abstract
Hyperglycemic nonketotic coma developed in a young man ten weeks after an episode of diabetic ketoacidosis and four weeks after successful pituitary stalk section. This is the first recorded instance of this syndrome occurring in a patient with a history of insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. A possible relation between the stalk section and the altered responses to accelerating hyperglycemia is considered.
