Abamectin Bait for Caribbean Fruit Fly (Diptera: Tephritidae)

Abstract
Abamectin in sugar-yeast hydrolysate bait was tested on colony-reared adult Caribbean fruit flies, Anastrepha suspensa (Loew), in the laboratory in a no-choice design. The EC99S (irreversible knockdown followed rapidly by death) for sexually mature females and males were 12.2 and 19.6 ppm, respectively, at 48 h. Abamectin is a promising alternative to malathion in bait control programs in Florida citrus production.
