Abstract
The paper has three messages. First, doctors in management can use evaluation methods and research to make better management decisions and to manage projects. Second, health policy makers and managers can no longer afford not to make a greater use of evaluation in making and implementing decisions. Third, the model of evidence‐based medicine is not appropriate for management decisions, but there are other approaches which can be used to develop evaluation‐informed health management. Keywords
