Abstract
The input admittance of a cylindrical antenna immersed in a magneto-ionic medium with the magnetostatic field parallel to the axis of the antenna is investigated and is found to become infinite for an idealized delta-function voltage generator. Depending on the frequency and the plasma parameters, either the susceptance, which can be inductive or capactive, or the conductance, which is always positive, is infinite. For the practical case of highly localized generators, these infinites become finite, but remain relatively large. The occurrence of such large values of the input admittance of an antenna in a magneto-ionic medium can be used to obtain information on the relative values of the magneto-ionic parameters. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
