Abstract
Thiouracil was used in the treatment of 18 patients manifesting various forms of thyrotoxicosis. In the treatment of Graves'' disease in young adults, it was used in combination with x-ray irradiation of the thyroid. Thiouracil was found to be superior to I in the pre-operative prep. of patients with toxic adenoma. The drug was also used to advantage as a therapeutic test in the diagnosis of questionable "masked" hyperthyroidism. Typical case reports illustrative of the response to this form of therapy are given. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
